Luxembourg
In response to the housing needs of refugees from Ukraine, 3 Smart Living Model A35bV houses were constructed in the municipality of Schifflange, located in the south of Luxembourg. The residents of the houses consist of two single ladies and a young mother with a child. The Red Cross caregivers have provided feedback indicating high satisfaction levels among the residents with their apartments.
The buildings were installed temporarily, with an expected lifespan of around 3 years, in the heart of the community. Despite being situated near a road and the train station, alongside a playground, there have been no complaints regarding noise pollution. Even during the exceptionally cold winter of 2022/23, there were no heating issues reported, indicating excellent insulation against noise and heat.
Thanks to the self-supporting structure of the 3 Smart-Houses, they can be repurposed for their original use as overnight shelters along the 90 km Minett Trail after the current residents have returned home. The final site for the buildings has yet to be determined.
The project was implemented with the collaboration with DMD’s partner : OIKOS-Concept in Luxembourg. Contact us today to learn more about our project.

Modular temporary accommodation refers to relocatable buildings manufactured off-site and installed for defined timeframes, typically ranging from several months to multiple years. At DMDmodular, these solutions are engineered to provide full residential standards while maintaining the flexibility required for temporary use.
Through factory-controlled production and parallel site preparation, DMDmodular can shorten delivery schedules by up to 40% compared to traditional construction. This makes modular temporary accommodation suitable for time-critical projects such as workforce housing, public-sector needs, or transitional residential use.
Despite their temporary designation, the units are delivered as fully functional living spaces, including bathrooms, kitchens or kitchenettes, heating, insulation, and integrated installations. The technical standard is comparable to permanent residential buildings.
Yes. Modular temporary accommodation is designed for multiple deployment cycles. Units can be dismantled, transported, and reinstalled at new locations, significantly reducing material waste and supporting circular construction principles.
DMDmodular’s temporary accommodation solutions are used by public authorities, developers, employers, and institutional clients for applications such as workforce housing, temporary residential programmes, emergency accommodation, and interim housing during redevelopment phases.
